I missed a whole month?!
I knew I wasn't blogging much, but I can't believe I totally missed the month of March! That's okay, though, because I truly needed the break. We have been swamped lately so here's a little catch-up:
- Early in March, Sean and I took a little trip to the capitol city of Jakarta so that he could complete his annual flight physical. Our girls stayed with our teammates, the Rogers, and had an amazing time. I really enjoyed a change of pace and Starbucks but overall I came away with the realization that I. Don't. Like. Big. Cities. And Jakarta is a big, big, big city. Next time, I think I'll try to remember that I don't like shopping all that much, either. Little touristy shops on quaint, quiet streets - yes! Huge, indulgent malls with overwhelming prices and choices....not so much.
- We had the Rogers' kids over the following week, so that their parents could have a similar trip to Jakarta. I never expected the boys and girls to get along so well, especially because they all spent so much time together two weekends in a row. But they all got along beautifully and it was actually a very nice time.
- We just got home from a whole week in another city for our MAF Kalimantan Family Conference. The city of Balikpapan is much smaller than Jakarta and they had just what we needed to get our "fix" - Indian food, Mexican food, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Starbucks!
- Our time at conference was truly what we needed. The speakers brought us the exact message that Sean and I needed and we had an amazing time connecting with teammates we don't get to see very often (they live in another city in Borneo). We came home tired but inspired and energized to abide in Christ and serve out of the overflow of His abundance in our lives. Thank you so much, Kevin and Linda!
- The girls had VBS all week at Conference and loved it. I'm so blessed by the team that came all the way from Idaho just to minister to our kids. It's fun, too, to see my kids' faith growing as they learn more and more about Jesus. There's just nothing better than that.
- Since we had just gotten home the day before, our Easter Sunday was pretty relaxed. We did manage to get together with our friends for a little Easter Egg hunt, a short time discussing the Resurrection with the kids, plus some donuts (which we carried all the way from the city) and coffee. The rest of the day we relaxed here at home. It was a nice ending to an amazing week.
No, no, no. Those cannot be my baby nieces!! I can't stand how quickly they're growing...in a land far away. Give each of them a big kiss and hug from me.
