Returning to normal...
Hello! Well, I guess I took a bit of a blogging sabbatical. It wasn't exactly planned, but sometimes life goes that way!
As I'm sure you probably saw on Sean's blog, we had an incredible trip to Palangka Raya. We are encouraged after seeing the ministry we'll be involved with there, as well as the city and our future house! The highlight, though, was definitely getting to hang out with our good friends, the Persenaires, and to get to know their little girls. Back when we first met five years ago, they didn't have any kids yet and we only had Brooklyn. In those days we were happy, idealistic and untried newbies to MAF and long-term missions, preparing for our first assignments. We've all experienced so much since then but it was like we'd never been apart, even after all these years. So blessed that we get to work with that precious family!
We're super excited to return to Palangka Raya but, alas, we have at least 6 more months of language study to complete. We certainly discovered that we had some gaps that needed filling in our Indonesian and now we have the motivation to do it! It was exciting, though, to see what Indonesian we already know coming in useful. Somehow, it seemed impossible that what we learned on one island of Indonesia would work on a different (and by different, I mean different) island! (I can't explain such ridiculous thoughts.)
So...it's time to get back into our routine and language study. Sean and I start back to school on Monday and the girls start school on Wednesday. I'm honestly not excited about returning to school - I really, really, really enjoyed getting to just be Mommy over our break. Having a family and trying to be in school at the same time is hard. I'm counting on God's grace to get me through the next several months! So glad He is worthy of my trust and faith.
Ayo, belajar!
Yes, pictures will be coming soon. I'm busy trying to copy Sean's pictures from our trip...I'm sure there are some family shots in there that the people who read my blog will appreciate ;-)
Hi Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteJust had a chance to see your and Sean's blogs... thanks for posting! We appreciate your transparency ~ it gives us a better appreciation for what your lives are like there, and better prepares us to pray for you!
God bless you in 2011!
