Again with the random list...

I'm sorry I'm not a better blogger these days. I want to be, I really do. ACK! It's too busy around here. And it won't exactly be letting up, either. So here's the synopsis of recent days and days to come....

  • Last Tuesday was a holiday here in Indonesia so we were off from school. We decided to take our girls to the nearest movie theater (1.5 hours away) to see "Tangled." That day turned into our own version of "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles." Only our day included harrowing rides on scooters, buses, and taxis! Actually, the adventure of getting to the theater was part of the fun and everything went far more smoothly than could have been expected. And the girls LOVED the movie - we all did!
  • We had a Christmas party on Friday at our language school. It was a fun event - can you believe we completely forgot the camera? Something about trying to get five people and three pizzas to the school on one scooter in the pouring rain, made it easy to forget a few things...
  • As I type this, Brooklyn is reading over my shoulder. That girl is getting way too good at reading - nothing gets past her now. I love seeing my little girl's love for reading awaken. I can tell we're going to have a blast homeschooling together next year!
  • We have one week left in our current unit and then a nice, long break for Christmas. YAHOO!
  • So, since we have such a nice, long break, we are going to Palangkaraya (our future home in Indonesia, after language school) to visit our friends the Persenaires and to check out our future home and ministry there. HOORAY! We're super excited!
  • Tomorrow, I am sharing a testimony in Indonesian at our chapel service at school. I'm not exactly nervous about it...yet.
  • The rainy season has been going strong this past week. Oh, how I miss having a dryer! And a car. Getting clothes to dry and getting around town on the scooter have been challenges. But the rain is lovely (I love rain). An additional bonus is that it has been quite cool lately - it actually dipped below 80 degrees, I think!
  • We have lots of parties and programs planned over the next week and a half. Lots going on, which is fun and overwhelming all at once! I'm soaking it all in, though. I LOVE Christmastime. Surprisingly, it isn't all that hard to imagine that it is Christmas season even when the temperature is usually in the 80's (or higher) and the usual Christmas commercialism is missing. I've learned after a few Christmases away from "home" that Christmas is what you make of it.
  • So maybe you wonder how I feel about being so far from family this year. I won't lie, it's still hard. I'm glad we do have plenty going on these days and a trip to look forward to, but it still isn't the same as just being home for Christmas.
Stay tuned! I'm doing lots of posts to publish over the next week - it's my new attempt at more regular blogging. There might even be pictures coming!

**Don't forget to keep scrolling down or you'll miss the other post I published today! I know, two in one day - it must be a quiet Sunday.**
