Waiting....

About a week and a half ago, we should have been on a jet plane, headed back to our home, life, and ministry in Indonesia.  Um.  We didn't go.

No visas.

Visa purgatory.

At the same time, this delay has been just what we needed.  It has given us a few days to rest, to recover from all the craziness of our furlough travels.  It has provided us with extra time to deal with a medical issue (more on that later).  It has freed up a weekend for camping with my family and for being able to see my niece off to college. It provided us a chance to see our friends and mentors whose influence brought us to MAF as they prepare to head back out on a new assignment themselves.  It has given us a little more time so we could go visit Sean's cousin, finally visit the Denver museum of Natural History, and see Sean's sister and our brother-in-law again.  It gave us a weekend to drive out to eastern Kansas to see my Grandma Jean (a precious weekend with her, by the way) and to spend a few extra moments with cousins and aunts and uncles.  We have a few unexpected moments to have "one more's" and I'm so grateful to God for it.  I didn't know how very much I needed it.  But it seems right to tie up a few loose ends before we head back to the other side of the world, doesn't it?  Of course our loving Father would be happy to use a little delay to give us a few unexpected blessings.  Why wouldn't He?

There are rumors that our visas could show up in the next week or so, though I'm a little too cynical to hold my breath just yet.  Please keep praying that the visas do get here soon.  We've got a lot to do waiting for us back in our Indonesia home - guests we get to host, an airplane to get ready for, homeschooling to start, friends to catch up with...lots to do.

At the same time, please pray for us as we feel those good-byes looming awful heavy over our heads. We've said a couple already and we HATE this part.  It gets harder every time. It tears away at my spirit until I feel kind of heavy and empty all at once.  It stinks.  Did I mention I hate it?  So please pray that God's comfort and peace would overshadow the sorrow of parting and that we would be able to see - to remember - the beautiful story that God is writing for us in our pain and our obedience.  And please do pray extra-lots for those we will leave behind.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support - we love what we do and God carries us through so much, but I just don't think we could stand to do any of it without the amazing team of people we have behind us!  We truly do appreciate you!
