Stuck - Sort of

It has been raining a TON here lately. So much, in fact, that it caused several landslides in the mountains. One of those landslides took the road with it. The main road that we take to Quito is now completely impassable. Guess that means that next weekend when we go to Quito, we'll be taking the long way. On the regular route it takes about 4-5 hours to get to Quito. The other way will take 8-9 hours...if we don't get lost! Ugh.

I'm thankful there is "another way." I've heard parts of it could shake your teeth loose and I can't imagine sitting in the car on Ecuadorian roads for that long but at least we KNOW it will be beautiful.

It's weird how drastically different I feel about Shell, knowing how much more isolated we just became because of a little piece of missing road. Suddenly I'm feeling a touch anxious about being w-a-a-a-a-y out here. That's silly, of course. I happen to know a great MAF pilot.

Sean could fly us out of here too, if push came to shove. (Ha, ha, just kidding!)
