Still Settlin'
I mentioned previously that I painted the dining room. It wasn't planned but yesterday I got real antsy and annoyed with the wall color of the dining room and decided I just couldn't wait any longer to paint (we have lived here almost 6 months and I've been meaning to do it all along). The color was a bit too orange-y for my taste and there was a large section where mold had grown through the dampness of the walls and something had to be done. We had some leftover paint from the previous family that lived here that they had used in the living room. So, I used it up! I like the color a lot and it looks so fresh and bright now in that dining room. I still have to get some curtains made and I have some paintings by an Ecuadorian artist that we need to get framed to put on the wall - that will take a trip to Quito and some time to get done - but at least it feels cleaner and it doesn't grate on my nerves to see that orange-y, moldy wall every time I walk through the dining room.
This morning Sean and I worked hard making a big change for Madison and Brooklyn. They have each had their own room up to this point but we decided we'd like them to share. We think sharing a room will be a valuable experience for both of them and we would also like to be able to have a guest room. Brooklyn was all for the change and Madison...doesn't really care! Both rooms look great and I think we'll like this arrangement - doesn't matter, though, because it was way too difficult to switch things around for us to ever go back to the way it was before!
I still need to paint both rooms. The guest room will be white with possibly a purple wall to match the purple and green curtains and bedding. The girls' room will, of course, be pink. Brooklyn has been begging for a pink room since.....since she could say the word "pink." Maybe we can at least get the girls' room done next weekend. My dear husband isn't too fond of my sudden urge to re-nest but he puts up with it because he usually likes the end results of my decorating/organizing/rearranging tangents. I told Sean that it probably wouldn't matter where we were or how long we were there, I would always have some kind of nesting project going. I know I come by it honestly, my Mom has changed almost every room in her house a dozen times in the 26 years or so that they have lived there.
Soon as it is all done, I'll post some pics so you can see what I've been up to!
